In 1336, the Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler and Jack Harkness visited Kyoto, Japan, in the midst of the Battle of Minatogawa between Japanese imperial forces and the Ashikaga. (COMIC: Return of the Volsci) Their adventure did not go as planned and the trio had to flee the time period, escaping in the TARDIS.
