The first recorded sighting of the Loch Ness Monster was in the year 565, when Saint Columba visited Loch Ness. The historian and Abbot of Iona Adamnan wrote of the incident and described it as "the driving away of a certain water monster by virtue of prayer of the holy man". When summarising the history of the Loch Ness Monster and its relation to Zygon and Skarasen presence on Earth in his alien exposé The Secret Lives of Monsters, Justin Richards took note of the 565 sighting and quoted Adamnan's writings.
